Nicolaas Bloembergen
is Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. In 1981
he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his "contribution
to the development of laser spectroscopy." He has made major contributions
in the field of nonlinear optics and in the development of the maser. This
interview was conducted in 1993.
