The Dublin Show -- Later That Evening...

on the 2004 Ig™ Nobel Tour of the UK and Ireland

WHEN/WHERE: March 14, 2004, the pubs of Dublin.

Kees Moeliker's mallard duck and a glass of Guinness beer.

WHAT: After the show at the Royal Society of Dublin, many members of the audience joined Ig Nobel Prize winners David Gadian, Pek Van Andel and Kees Moeliker, and master of ceremonies Marc Abrahams, in taking a theoretically scientific tour of several of the pubs in Dublin.

Ig Nobel Prize winner Kees Moeliker and the duck became popular figures in pubs throughout Dublin.

Kees Moeliker and his stuffed mallard duck immediately became the social center of every pub. (Why a duck? Because in 2003, Moeliker was awarded the Ig Nobel Biology Prize for documenting the first scientifically recorded case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard duck.)

Ig Nobel Prize winner Pek Van Andel engages in conversation with a member of the Dublin scientific community.

PHOTOS: Nearly all of the photos here were taken by Kees Moeliker.

Ig Nobel master of ceremonies Marc Abrahams and Ig Nobel Prize winner David Gadian discuss the physics concept known as "the red shift."

Pek Van Andel holds a discussion over a duck.

Representatives of the Dublin scientific community explain social science to several bedraggled Ig Nobel Tour participants. The duck is, geographically, the center of attention.
