James Voordeckers joins the LFHCfS

voordeckers.JPGJames Voordeckers has joined the Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Scientists. Drew Reed, who nominated him, says:

James Voordeckers (a lab mate of mine) is a Ph.D. student working on deep-sea hydrothermal vent microbiology in the lab of Dr. Costantino Vetriani. James’ hair is obviously luxuriant and flowing (as shown in the accompanying picture in what I refer to as his “Jersey Waterfall” look) and would make a great addition to the club. Some other fun facts about James’ hair:

1. He can grow and regrow the beard you see in the picture overnight at will.
2. His eyebrows blended and become one with the hair on his head about 18 months ago. This contributes significantly to the overall flowing and luxuriousness of his hair.
3. His hair serves as a habitat for a large raccoon and an entire family of squirrels. Ergo, his hair has environmental benefits.
4. Despite the red eyes that appear in the photo, he is not in any way possessed by the devil, as far as we know.
